Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

What If Therapy Spent More Time on Where You're Going Than Where You've Been? There is a different way to do this.

Most people expect therapy to mean years of digging through the past. Endless analysis of what went wrong and why. Revisiting painful memories until some distant breakthrough finally arrives.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy works differently. And for many people, it works faster.

What Is Solution Focused Brief Therapy?

Solution Focused Brief Therapy, or SFBT, is a research-backed therapeutic approach that puts your goals, your strengths, and your future at the center of the work. Rather than spending the majority of time examining problems and their origins, SFBT focuses on what you want your life to look like and what it will take to get there.

It is not about ignoring the hard stuff. It is about making sure the hard stuff serves a clear purpose rather than becoming the permanent focus of every session.

The core belief behind SFBT is simple: you already have more strengths and resources than you currently recognize. My job is to help you find them, build on them, and use them to create real change.

What Does an SFBT Session Actually Feel Like?

Sessions tend to feel more energizing than draining. Rather than leaving therapy feeling heavy and exhausted, most clients leave with a clearer sense of direction and something concrete to work with before the next session.

You can expect conversations focused on:

What is already working in your life, even in small ways
What specific change would make the biggest difference
What your life would look like if things were genuinely better
What small steps would move you meaningfully in that direction

It is practical, collaborative, and genuinely hopeful without being unrealistic about the challenges you are facing.

What Is SFBT Helpful For?

Solution Focused Brief Therapy has strong research support across a wide range of challenges including:

Anxiety and chronic stress
Depression and low motivation
ADHD and executive function struggles
Relationship and couples difficulties
Trauma recovery and emotional healing
Life transitions and uncertainty
Confidence and self-worth
Habit change and behavioral patterns
Grief and loss

You Are Not Broken. You Are Stuck.

There is an important difference. Broken suggests something is fundamentally wrong with you. Stuck simply means you have not yet found the right path forward.

SFBT is built on the belief that the right path exists, that you are capable of walking it, and that therapy works best when it helps you see and use what you already carry rather than convincing you that you are defined by what you lack.

That is a message worth hearing.

Is SFBT Right for You?

You might be a strong candidate for Solution Focused Brief Therapy if you:

Want practical progress rather than open-ended analysis
Feel ready to focus on the future more than the past
Are motivated to create change but unsure how to get started
Have tried other approaches and want something more active and forward-focused
Simply want therapy that respects your time and moves with purpose

Let's Find Your Way Forward Together

I integrate Solution Focused Brief Therapy into my work with individuals and couples as a core part of how I help people create lasting, meaningful change. Combined with therapeutic hypnosis and other evidence-informed approaches, SFBT gives clients a clear, practical, and genuinely hopeful path toward the life they want to build.

A free discovery call is the easiest first step. No pressure, no commitment, just an honest conversation about where you are and where you want to go.
